Reformer Classes

Pilates is a combination of simple exercises done repeatedly to help build a strong core. Pilates work and strengthen the muscles of your abs, back, glutes, and chest. The reformer Pilates uses a Pilates equipment that was developed by Joseph Pilates and used to help the soldiers recover from war injuries. It has a narrow bed with pulleys, straps, and slides.

What is a reformer? A reformer is a Pilates apparatus that is an amazingly elegant machine. The reformer provides finely tuned exercise resistance that allows one to work very precisely to develop good alignment, core strength, and flexibility. There are many different types of reformers, at Freedom we use a more fitness based style of reformer. Our reformer classes are performed on and around the reformer using various props and we also integrate a Pilates machine called the Wunda Chair.

How does the reformer work? Reformer Pilates utilize spring-control resistance to build core strength, increase flexibility, endurance, & coordination. The resistance created by the pulley and spring system, along with your body weight provides a more challenging strength and endurance. This class strengthens & stretches your entire body, improves balance, and increases metabolism; leading to daily life improvements, better posture, graceful & efficient movements, & relief from pain associated with physical imbalances
